Making Trail and Ultra running
more accessible and equitable for her.

A little bit about us

From SheRunnerAus founder, Lyndal .......
As a long time participant in the sport of trail and ultra running, and an experienced coach of female athletes, I have seen how the sport and the industry has changed for the better over the last thirty years.  Female participation is increasing, and it is an extraordinarily amazing sport and community to be part of.

However, there’s still changes that need to be made to make the sport more accessible and equitable for female participants in both Australia and New Zealand.  Some of these are big changes, and some much smaller and subtle, and things that race directors, coaches, and race participants may never have had to think of.  Race entry lotteries, qualifiers, communication of race results, availability of menstrual products at aid stations, toilets, social media presence, pregnancy deferral policies, etc. – these are the kind of things we can work on.  It is fabulous to see that some race organisers are already making changes to make events more inclusive.

Our team is made up of athletes, race directors, coaches and adventure sport business owners.  We have women involved from both Australia and New Zealand.  Both myself and the team hope that you can use the information and guidelines on this site to help you make informed decisions on both delivering and participating in running events.

SheRunnerAus was formed as a platform to collaborate and develop solutions.  Our goal is twofold.  Firstly, to get more women participating in ultras and realising their potential.  Secondly, to make the sport more accessible and with more equity for women.  And we want you to be a part of this too.
